Hand and Power Tools Can Cause Serious Injuries
With summer rapidly approaching, many of you will be working on making your lawns and gardens more beautiful. Some of you will be using hand and power tools and power lawn equipment. Unfortunately, an accident with a power tool can turn your life into a nightmare.
About Hand and Power Tools
In one of our cases, our client was using a power mower when it suddenly stopped. Our client attempted to see what was wrong and suddenly, the blades on the power mower began to turn again. As a result, our client's hand was so severely injured that it made it impossible for him to resume work at the same job he did before he was injured for the remainder of his work life. We at Worby Groner Edelman were able to obtain a large settlement on behalf of our client. We retained an expert who stated that there was an improper design to the power mower in question in that it did not have an automatic cut off switch. If the power mower had the proper cut off switch on it, it would have prevented the blade from turning.
Who Is Responsible
Manufacturers who do not have the proper safety equipment installed on their power mowers or hand and power tools can be responsible for an injury if the injury is caused by the improper design of the equipment.
